Opening Passage

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NLT)
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father
I pray that today’s message
transition from a head knowledge into a heart revelation
and through the power and the person of the Holy spirit
renew our minds and transform our lives with Your word
in the name of Jesus.
Amen

Introduction

Story #1: At 19, I was praying for God to show me an angel.
Story #2: Lori would talk about angels and demons and I would zone out.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

NOTICE “we… wrestle”. Not God… we! God is not in a war, we are!

GREEK for Principalities and Powers: är-khā’― eks-ü-sē’-ä the first principality of angels and demons with governing spiritual influence.
GREEK for Rulers of the Darkness of this Age: ko-smo-krä’-tōr the devil and his demons
GREEK pnyü-mä-tē-ko’s―po-nā-rē’-ä: depraved spiritual beings higher than man but inferior to God.

In other words, very, evil spirits! Not evil people… evil spirits!

Ephesians 6:12 CEB
We are not fighting against human enemies but against rulers, authorities, forces of cosmic darkness, and spiritual powers of evil in the heavens.

1. A Superior Army.

James 2:19 (NKJV)
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!

Story#3 My two angel visions.

Luke 10:18 (NKJV)
And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Hebrews 12:22 (NKJV)
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,

God said you’re going to need them.

FYI

Luke 9:1-2 (NKJV)
Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

I don’t find an expiration date on this authority anywhere in scripture!

2. An Inferior Enemy.

An inferior enemy must prey upon the weak.

Only time Satan approached Jesus was in a weakened state.

Matthew 4:1-11 (NKJV)
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’” 8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

He had to catch Jesus at the beginning of His ministry and weak from hunger and dehydration or Satan would never have gotten that close.

Satan never again directly approaches Jesus!

Acts 19:13-20 (NKJV)
Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered
them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. 18 And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. 19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

Apparently, demons learn; this is the last occurrence of its kind in the bible.
Even an inferior enemy can adapt and change tactics.

Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV)
… above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Fiery Darts Story and Teaching

I told Dr. Mitchell something was wrong with me because I was just sitting at a red light and the (seemingly) random thought of $20.00 my young cousin owed me popped into my head. He went on to teach me about fiery darts of the enemy.

James 3:13-15 (NKJV)
… if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

3. How to Win.

Ephesians 6:14-18 (NKJV)
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Stay focused of the battle not the war!

2 Timothy 2:3-4 (NKJV)
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

Luke 10:18-20 (NKJV)
And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

I don’t want our church to become dull the spiritual things, but I also don’t want you to become totally consumed with warfare or you’ll miss the joy of knowing who you are in Christ and your names are written in heaven!

Revelation 12:11 (NKJV)
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

What frightens Satan the most is when we share what Jesus has done for each of us especially saving us by His sacrifice on the cross.

Invitation for Salvation

Prayer for Salvation or Renewed Commitments

Heavenly Father, a hundred times I could’ve and should’ve been dead, but every time the devil tried to kill me you saved me. I’ve been running to hard and to long. I’ve been fighting against you all this time, but today I choose to be a solider in your army and fight for you.

Romans 10:9-11 (NKJV)
… if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Today I repent of all my sins… I surrender. I surrender my heart to you. Amen
